KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna city officials learned this week that organizers have canceled plans to hold the annual Electric City Experience music festival this year in Kaukauna.

City officials and community leaders now are considering organizing an alternative event for later in the summer.

The event typically takes place in early June, however their has been no promotion of the event this spring, which has been done in the past.

In a news release posted to its Facebook page Friday evening, Electric City Experience announced it was becoming the Fox Cities Experience and will debut June 7-8 at a new home in Menasha’s Jefferson Park.

“City of Kaukauna staff were disappointed to learn this week that this event we have supported for the last 7 years has been canceled,” Kaukauna Mayor Tony Penterman said in a news release.

Penterman said the Common Council and city staff recognize the importance of this event, so an advisory committee is being formed and we are looking to bring the Electric City Music Festival in late summer.

The city will look to make the new event more community oriented with local businesses, non-profits, and volunteers helping run the event.

City staff will work with the Heart of the Valley Chamber of Commerce to seek out Kaukauna and Fox Valley businesses for sponsorship opportunities to further promote local business as part of this event.

“With the original date being only three weeks away, pushing this year’s event to later in the summer will provide time to gather sponsor, sound technicians, and musicians,” Penterman said. “Given the short notice, this year’s event likely won’t be as big as previous years but were still hoping to include carnival rides and several bands.”

“Meanwhile, we encourage our community members to support live music in Kaukauna by attending our weekly Live! from Hydro Park concert series this summer,” Penterman said.

“The city is proud to host events like this that bring people together both in the city and surrounding communities as well.”
