KAUKAUNA — The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts softball team is now one win away from a return trip to the WIAA state tournament after a 4-0 win Wednesday over De Pere.

Kaukauna faces No. 2 Ashwaubenon Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Betty Van Lannen Field at Pulaski High.

The Ghosts advanced to Wednesday’s rain-delayed game with a 9-0 home win last Thursday over Bay Port.

Taryn Christopher put the Ghosts on the scoreboard first with a solo home run in the first inning, her fifth of the season.

A three-run fourth gave Kaukauna all the breathing room it needed to advance in the tournament.

Starting pitcher Karly Meredith struck out 16.

The 3-time reigning Division 1 state champions have now pushed their 3-year winning streak to 106 games.
