KAUKAUNA — Ryan Mayer was 4-for-4 on field goals as the Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts defeated Oshkosh West 19-3 on homecoming Friday at Bank of Kaukauna Stadium.

Mayer put the Ghosts on the scoreboard first with a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter.

After the Kaukauna defense forced a second turnover on downs in the half, the Ghosts used a long Ryan Carrel run followed by a 49-yard Carrel to Muhammad Jobe touchdown pass to extend the lead to 10-0.

After forcing a punt, Kaukauna put together another long drive to sneak in another Mayer field goal just before time expired in the first half to go into halftime up 13-0.

West got on the scoreboard early in the third quarter with a field goal, trimming the Ghosts lead to 13-3.

But the Ghosts answered with a Mayer 32-yard field goal to go up 16-3.

A third turnover on downs led the Ghosts to drive to the Oshkosh West 9-yard line.

That set up Mayer for a 33-yard field goal, his fourth of the game to put Kaukauna out of reach at 19-3.

A Laythan Hurst fumble recovery with 2:18 left in the game sealed the win for the Ghosts.
