TOWN OF FREEDOM — The Appleton Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials team was called in to help with cleanup in the town of Freedom overnight for a semi that was leaking a hazardous chemical.

The Appleton Fire Department in a news release said they were called out about 10 p.m. Wednesday to a hazardous materials spill in the town of Freeedom, in the area of County Highway N and Greiner road.

Freedom Fire Department requested the Appleton Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials team to respond to a semi tractor trailer accident that had a full load of an alcohol based chemical leaking from it.

The team responded with eight members, and worked with the Freedom Fire Department to control the leak.

The liquid was then transferred to another tanker, and the semi was righted and towed.

Appleton Fire Department units cleared the scene at 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

The incident was under the command of the Freedom Fire Department.
