KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna crossing guard Vicki Wagner is being described as one of the kindest, most genuine souls a person could ever meet, and she made an ordinary part of one family’s day feel so special.

The comment was posted by a parent in the Kaukauna Community Group after Wagner was killed in a tragic accident June 18 in Appleton where a dump truck being towed by a wrecker rolled over onto Wagner’s vehicle, killing her.

Family members have now launched an online fundraiser (DONATE HERE) to help honor Wagner’s memory while easing the financial burden on her family.

Her niece, Amy Hintz, said Wagner worked at the corner at Park Community Charter School for three years, then this last year was at Dr. H. B. Tanner Early Learning Center.

“She truly loved her job,” Hintz said. “She loved talking to the kids and families.”

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wagner’s life on Saturday, July 18, in Pewaukee, according to her obituary.

A second celebration of life is currently being planned for the Fox Valley area, according to the family.
