KAUKAUNA — The Kaukauna Area School District on Tuesday launched its search for its next superintendent and will be surveying families, staff and stakeholders for input in choosing the next leader.
Superintendent Mark Duerwaechter is retiring in June 2022 after leading Kaukauna schools for the past 10 years and serving 34 years in education.
“We are grateful for Mark’s exceptional leadership over the past decade, and we are excited to hear from candidates who want to continue to make Kaukauna strong,” Board President Kathryn Breitzman said in a news release.
Applications posted Tuesday on WECAN and the Wisconsin School Leadership Center are due by Dec. 30, 2021. The Board of Education also released a District/Candidate Profile that includes Board and district feedback on the skills, values, experience and priorities desired in the next superintendent. The Board will be gathering feedback from staff, families and other stakeholders in a survey to be shared later this month.
The school district hired Cooperative Educational Service Agency (CESA) 6 to lead the board through the search process. The CESA 6 team will screen applicants and present candidates to the Board on Jan. 12. The Board will choose finalists who will be interviewed by the Board and internal stakeholders on Jan. 26. The Board hopes to finalize the hiring by February with the new superintendent starting effective July 1, 2022.
