KAUKAUNA — Keaton Kluever and Eric Peters have been named co-head coaches of the boys varsity wrestling team, Kaukauna High School Activities Director Kasey Smith announced this week.
They take over for hall-of-fame coach Jeff Matczak, who announced he was stepping down earlier this month.
According to a news release, Kluever and Peters bring a combination of program knowledge, coaching experience, and high-level wrestling success to one of Kaukauna’s most established athletic programs.
Kluever, a 2018 Kaukauna High School graduate, is a two-time WIAA State Wrestling Champion and an NCAA Division I National Qualifier.
Most recently, he served as a Division I collegiate wrestling coach.
His experience competing and coaching at the highest levels of the sport, combined with his passion for returning to his hometown, will be valuable assets to the program.
Peters, a teacher at Kaukauna High School and a longtime assistant coach with the boys varsity wrestling team, brings extensive knowledge of the program, a lifetime of experience in the sport and a strong connection to the Kaukauna wrestling community.
The partnership brings together deep roots in the Kaukauna wrestling community and experience at the highest levels of collegiate wrestling, with a shared commitment to continuing the tradition of excellence that defines Kaukauna wrestling.
