KAUKAUNA — Three local companies have stepped up to support a fundraiser to replace a broken down ice machine that helps keep firefighters cool during hot summer calls.
Ahlstrom Thilmany, Midwest Carriers and The All American Garage Inc., along with many other community supporters, raised the money to purchase a new ice maker and new coolers for the trucks at Kaukauna Professional Firefighters Local 1594.
Thilmany got involved when one of their employees saw a post on Facebook from The All American Garage looking for donations to help raise money to replace the fire department’s ice machine.
Thilmany then contacted TAAG to see how they could help.
“We were able to make a donation to help with the purchase,” said administrative assistant Brittany Bishop. “We felt it was important for us to give back to the Kaukauna Fire Department as a thank you for all that they have done for our
mill and for our community.”
“We’re looking forward to partnering with TAAG more in the future and, as always, we’re grateful for our
Kaukauna FD,” she said.
The Facebook post from the All American Garage goes back to Oct. 31 when they were visiting members of the Kaukauna Fire Department.
That’s when they learned that the ice machine that firefighters rely on to fill the coolers they carry on the fire trucks when called out when their services are needed was not working.
They learned it would cost more to repair the ice maker than to purchase a new one, so they reached out to the community to help raise the needed money.
