KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna High School senior Andrew Jensen has been named the class of 2026 Lang Trophy winner.
The award was announced Wednesday evening at the senior awards ceremony.
According to the biography read during the ceremony:
Jensen has been a standout student, channeling his interest in business and numbers toward a future career in accounting. He is an active member of the National Honor Society and serves as a vital mentor in Ghost Crew, helping incoming freshmen navigate their own transition into high school.
He is known by teachers and peers alike for his sharp wit, a vast mental catalog of dad jokes used to brighten the morning in his first-hour class, and a surprising musical background that includes learning to play the guitar, piano, and tuba. He has even mastered the unique skill of perfectly shuffling cards.
His coaches and teachers often remind him that karma is real, and that good things happen to good peopleāa philosophy he carries into everything he does. And with that, his legacy as a Kaukauna student and athlete will be the example he set for his peers and for younger students who watched how he responded to every challenge.
To our community and the wider region, Jensen has become a prominent, highly visible figure who commanded attention under the brightest lights, growing to stand at 6-foot-10 on the basketball court. This season, he capped off a sensational athletic career for the Ghosts by being named the Fox Valley Association player of the year and a finalist for the state’s Mr. Basketball Award, leading the Ghosts to a 24-4 record and consecutive conference championships.
Jensen has represented his school with deep humility, never taking his success for granted, and always prioritizing the camaraderie of his teammates and peers – whether collaborating on a group project, celebrating a major school victory, or just sharing a team meal at Culver’s after a road trip.
His next chapter will take him to Chicago, where he will study accounting and compete in basketball at the Division I level for DePaul University, with ultimate goals of playing professionally.
The trophy is named for A.M. Lang, a local merchant, who in 1922 purchased a silver and gold cup to be awarded to the most “all around high school student.”
Lang would purchase the award and have it displayed at the school for the entire year.
Displaying the trophy was used as an incentive for students to strive to be the best student, community member, and overall person they could be. Our award still is displayed in the commons along with a picture of the recipient throughout the school year.
Recipients are selected on their high academic achievement, most all around helpfulness, cooperation and participation in student activities.
