APPLETON — Appleton police have released a photo and new details in a suspected DUI crash last weekend with two children in the vehicle.
According to the latest post from Appleton police, officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash last weekend that left the vehicle on its roof in shallow water in a ditch off the highway.
Two young children were in the backseat, secured in improperly installed car seats. Thankfully, both were uninjured.
All of the vehicle’s occupants were transported to a local hospital to be medically evaluated.
Following an investigation, the driver was ultimately arrested, facing possible charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Injury – 2nd Offense, with a Minor Child in the Vehicle; Operating While Revoked; Failure to Install Ignition Interlock Device; Possession of Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle; and Violation of Child Safety Restraint.
“The fact that no one was seriously injured or killed is a miracle. But it should not take a miracle to get everyone home safely,” police said. “One decision can change everything. Don’t make the decision to drive impaired.”
