KAUKAUNA — The Kimberly offense showed just enough life in the second half to take the spirit out of Kaukauna’s homecoming with a 8-6 Papermaker win.

The defense starred for both teams in the first half, with the Ghosts sacking Kimberly QB Cam Wong three times.

Kaukauna’s biggest weapon in the first half was punter and wide receiver Kavanaugh Weyenberg who kept Kimberly pinned deep on most drives leading to a scoreless first half

The stalemate changed with the opening drive of the second half.

Kimberly moved methodically down the field ending in a 5-yard touchdown pass from Wong to Ryan Buchanan. A successful two-point conversion put the Papermakers on the board at 8-0.

The Ghosts’ offense finally began to build momentum as the clock moved to under 6 minutes in the game.

But the drive stalled on a fourth-and-two at the Papermaker 26.

After getting the ball back, backup QB Quentin Gustman led the Ghosts on a late drive, scoring with 1 second left on a 5-yard run.

However the 2-point conversion fell 1-yard short, giving Kimberly the 8-6 win.

Kaukauna (3-3, 3-5) wraps up the regular season Friday, Oct. 17 vs. Appleton East.

Kimberly (5-1, 6-2) travels to Appleton North.
