KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna High School junior Karly Meredith announced last week she has committed to the University of Virginia to play softball after she graduates in 2025.

Meredith, a standout pitcher for the Ghosts, was named Gatorade state softball player of the year and is a two-time Fox Valley Association softball player of the year.

“I am super excited to announce I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at the University of Virginia,” Meredith wrote on Twitter.

“I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and family for supporting me throughout the years. None of this is possible without you guys. Thank you Coach Jo, Coach Jamie, Coach Tylka, and Coach Bella for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level. I cant wait for this next chapter of my softball career! Go Hoos!”

For the past two seasons, she’s led the Ghosts to WIAA state titles, including a third-in-a-row for the program this past spring.

Kaukauna has never lost a state title game, winning the championship in each of its previous state appearances including 2010, 201720212022 and now in 2023.

Her older sister Kally, also a standout on the Galloping Ghosts softball squad is now in her xx season at Florida International University.
