KAUKAUNA – Pub 55 in Kaukauna will host a visit from America’s Best Restaurants in mid-September 2023.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on Sept. 19, 2023.
Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Joel Vogels about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
Although Vogels was an electrical contractor for 35 years, he had wanted to own a pub since he was a kid. He has a picture he drew at six years old hanging in his office – ‘Joel’s Bar & Grill’.
Pub 55 offers live music on weekends, 32 beers on tap, a bourbon club and tequila club, and all scratch-made food. Vogel says nothing is frozen or comes from a package.
The menu offers a wide variety of sandwiches, wings, pizza, and other casual pub favorites. A top seller that is likely to be featured on the episode is the Ribeye Philly, an open-faced sandwich on Texas Toast with mushrooms, onions and peppers and smoked Gouda cheese. Onion rings, a popular side, are hand-breaded red onions.
“Our onion rings are insane,” notes Vogel. “Our apps – people love them.”
Vogel is interested in getting more publicity for Pub 55 with the attention that the episode will give him. He says they are trying to get nationally known musical acts to perform in their event space. He makes changes to the menu every six months, and says that he wants people to come in for some good food and a good time.
“I just want people to get the feel of what we do, what we have,” he says. “It’s a cool place.”
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Tuesday Sept. 19 from 9 am to noon CST. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants‘ website.
