KAUKAUNA — Matthew Beyer has been found guilty of two counts of first-degree intentional homicide for killing his two young children in Kaukauna.
The verdict was handed down Tuesday after less than an hour of deliberations.
In a statement issued following the verdict, Kaukauna Mayor Tony Penterman reacted to the juries decision.
“For just over 1,000 days this black cloud has hung over our community,” Penterman wrote in a social media post. “With the jury’s guilty verdict today the sun can begin to shine again and as a community we can begin to heal. And we can finally celebrate that justice has been served for Will and Dani.”
Beyer, 38, was convicted two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of his two children, 5-year-old William Beyer and 3-year-old Danielle Beyer, who were found dead by police on Feb. 17, 2020, in the upper level of a Crooks Avenue duplex in Kaukauna.
In an unusual move, the judge sentenced Beyer on Tuesday right after the verdict came in.
Beyer was been sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison without a chance for parole.
