TOWN OF GRAND CHUTE — One person is dead, along with a dog, after a house fire Saturday morning in Grand Chute.
The Grand Chute Fire Department, Appleton Fire Department, and Fox Crossing Fire Department were called out about 8:40 a.m. May 22 to 2323 E. Wisconsin Ave. for a report of smoke in the house.
When firefighters got inside, crews reported smoke in the building but the fire had mostly burned itself out before firefighters arrived.
A deceased person and dog were found in the house, according to a social media post from the Grand Chute Fire Department.
The victim’s name is not available pending family notifications.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation by Grand Chute Fire Department, Grand Chute Police Department, and Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, which is standard practice after a fatality, and no cause has been identified at the time of this release.
