FREEDOM — A Kaukauna man was critically injured Saturday evening in a crash in the town of Freedom involving three vehicles.

According to a news release, Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office deputies were sent shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 7 to the intersection of County Highway S and County Highway J in the town of Freedom for a three-vehicle crash with injuries.

Investigators say a sedan, driven by a 42-year-old Kaukauna man, was traveling north on Highway J approaching a stop sign at Highway S.

The sheriff’s office says he failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded through the intersection.

At the same time, a sedan traveling east on Highway S, driven by a 19-year-old Freedom man, struck the northbound sedan that failed to stop at the stop sign, deputies say.

As the northbound sedan cleared the intersection after being struck, a westbound sedan operated by a 29-year-old Kaukauna man struck the eastbound sedan.

The northbound sedan came to rest in a nearby ditch and the driver needed to be extracted from the vehicle.

He was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to a local hospital with critical injuries.

The other drivers were released from the scene with no reported injuries.

Currently, the crash investigation is still ongoing.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Freedom Fire Department, Freedom First Responders, Gold Cross Ambulance, and the Outagamie County Highway Department.
