MENASHA — A firefighter from the Menasha station destroyed by the July 27 tornado is seeking the return of one of his most beloved possessions — his helmet that likely fell from his vehicle after being recovered from the rubble.
Indie Skye Novitzke posted about her husband’s missing helmet in the Appleton Community News Group.
She says that Bradley Novitzke’s gear is all he currently has left from his work from Station 41 at the department since he started.
However, when picking up his belongings after it was recovered, somehow, he forgot to close the tailgate of his truck, and now his helmet is gone.
It’s a yellow helmet that says FCFD 41 Firefighter on the front.
On the back, it just says 11.
“It means everything to my husband to be able to keep what’s left and honor his place there as he continues towards a long career doing this, despite the destruction caused by the tornado,” she said.
She says they re-traced their route about three times, and it’s nowhere to be seen.
