OUTAGAMIE COUNTY — An Outagamie County highway worker directing traffic at a construction site on Wednesday was hit by a passing truck, County Executive Tom Nelson said.
The driver ignored the worker, hit him with the side mirror and drove off giving the one-finger salute, Nelson wrote in a social media post.
Another alert employee took a picture of the license plate. The offender will be dealt with to the full extent of the law, Nelson said.
“Look, it’s really hot out there. People are fried, short-tempered and cranky. I get it. But please — let’s not take it out on each other. Especially those just doing their job. We can do better,” Nelson said.
