KAUKAUNA — The City of Kaukauna, in conjunction with the Kaukauna Area School District, will be holding a public involvement meeting regarding the intersection of Wisconsin Highway 55 and Morningside Drive.

The proposed improvements include reconstructing the intersection to a multi-lane roundabout with a pedestrian underpass to provide access to the future Kaukauna Middle School.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Municipal Services Building located at 144 W 2nd St.

The objective of the meeting is to share the details of the project, including the proposed improvements and anticipated construction impacts. 

The new $169.2 million middle school, expected to open in tge fall of 2028, includes:

  • Capacity to serve 1,200+ students in grades 5-8
  • Classrooms/labs for science, technology, and culinary courses
  • Spaces for student collaboration, project-based learning, and performance
  • Commons/cafeteria, 3-court gym, and fitness area for students and community use
  • Outdoor physical education/practice fields
  • Energy-efficient systems and natural lighting
  • Geothermal heating and cooling system to reduce utility costs

The school referendum.was approved by voters in November, 2025.
