KAUKAUNA — Matt Binsfeld, who led the Wrightstown High School football team to the Division 4 state championship in 2011, has been named the new head football coach at Kaukauna High School.

The announcement was made through a Kaukauna School District news release published today by the Kaukauna Times-Villager. Binsfeld is a Kaukauna High School graduate.

Binsfeld’s appointment must be approved by the board, but he is expected to begin July 1. Binsfeld also will serve as a high school counselor.

During his five-year tenure as head varsity football coach, Binsfeld’s teams won three Conference Championships to go with his state title.

Binsfeld comes to KASD with a successful background as a school counselor, working with primarily at-risk students in the Wrightstown Community School District for the past eleven years. Moreover, he has experience as an athletic director, Assistant varsity football coach, and highly-respected head varsity football coach, according to the post by the Times.

The addition of a fourth School Counselor at Kaukauna High School will also help the district to better implement and to fulfill the Wisconsin State Academic and Career Planning requirement, and help to better meet students’ academic, personal/social, and career needs; the advent of a fourth school counselor will significantly reduce the student to school counselor ratio, according to the news release.

“Matt’s experience and ability to build strong, positive relationships with students will be an asset to our school community,” said Superintendent Mark Duerwaechter. “The District is fortunate to fill two areas of need with a leader of Matt’s caliber, and we’re extremely excited to welcome him to the Kaukauna Area School District.”
