FOX CITIES – The Fox Cities Chamber will hold its next Public Policy Forum on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 focusing on the 2023 Wisconsin State Budget.

The forum will focus on the current state of Wisconsin’s finances, the debate between the Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and the Republican-controlled Legislature as they work to compromise and what the future may hold as the state faces economic headwinds, according to a news release from the chamber.

Jason Stein, Vice President and Research Director at the Wisconsin Policy Forum, a nonpartisan, independent statewide policy research organization, will provide an overview and insights on the state budget and finances in general.

The program will be held from 8 – 9 a.m. at the Fox Valley Technical College’s Bordini Center, 5 N Systems Drive in Appleton, with registration starting at 7:45 a.m.

Stein is the Vice President and Research Director of the Wisconsin Policy Forum, where he focuses on researching state and local government out of the group’s Madison office and on building up the Forum’s relationships and members in the area.

Before joining the Forum, Stein worked as a Capitol reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and for the Wisconsin State Journal.

He is the author with Patrick Marley of “More than They Bargained For: Scott Walker, Unions and the Fight for Wisconsin.” His work has been recognized by journalism groups such as the American Society of News Editors, the Society of American Business Editors and Writers, and the Association of Capitol Reporters and Editors. Milwaukee Magazine also named him as one of the city’s most influential media figures in 2015.

He previously served as the board president of both the Wisconsin Capitol Correspondents Association and of The Daily Cardinal, the University of Wisconsin-Madison student newspaper.
