KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna senior Alana Zarneke has been selected as this week’s state Athlete of the Week for December 12-18 after a statewide vote on WisSports.net

There were 5,534 total votes this week. Zarneke topped all vote getters with 2,067 votes. Prescott’s Dallas Wallin came in second with 1,971 votes.

The Kaukauna girls basketball team is 8-0 to start the year and was ranked fifth in Division 1 in the Week 3 WSN Coaches Poll. 

Zarneke has been lights out for the Galloping Ghosts so far. In an 86-70 win over Appleton East, the St. Cloud State commit had 30 points, eight steals and seven rebounds.

Kaukauna then squared off with unbeaten and third ranked Hortonville and handed them a 70-59 loss. Zarneke once again led the Galloping Ghosts, scoring 15 points and adding 12 rebounds and six assists.

The Ghosts travel to Kimberly High School Thursday evening for a game against the Papermakers.
