KAUKAUNA — The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts softball team defeated Ashwaubenon 3-0 at home Wednesday to advance to Thursday’s sectional final.
Kaukauna will face Green Bay Preble in Pulaski at Betty Lannen Field with a return trip to state on the line. Preble advances after defeating Kimberly 5-0.
Preble is the No. 1 seed in the Division 1 bracket, with Kaukauna earning a 2-seed. Both teams entered the post-season with an undefeated record.
The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts softball team won its post season opener last Thursday, defeating Bay Port 7-0.
The Ghosts’ last loss was to Milton in last year’s state semifinal game. The team was on a 108-game winning streak until that loss.
Kaukauna is hoping to return to the state tournament for the seventh time overall and for the fifth year in a row. They captured the gold trophy five times, including 2010, 2017, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
