Inclusion Community Center's new space in downtown Kaukauna

KAUKAUNA — Work has been ongoing to bring new life to the historic former Pechman building in downtown Kaukauna, and one of the new tenants has announced they’ll be moving into the building.

The Inclusion Community Center will soon move into the building at the corner of 2nd and Main on Kaukauna’s south side.

“Our new location is just around the block. Take a sneak peak at what we have been working on,” the group wrote Wednesday in a social media post.

They’re currently located at 151 E. Third Street and will be joined at their new location by other businesses on the main floor, and newly remodeled apartments on the second floor.

Inclusion Community Center is a facility-based adult day service serving the Fox Valley, dedicated to fostering inclusion for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Founded in 2023 by educators Bryanna Moder and Shannon Diedrick, the center provides a supportive environment where individuals can find purpose, friendship, and continue learning essential life skills.

The historic building has been at that location since before 1894, and for many years housed Pechman’s Portraits.

“Like several other brick commercial buildings in Kaukauna designed during the 1880s and 90s, Pechman Portraits displays Romanesque elements for decoration. The most notable feature is the corbelling that follows the cornice. A series of small rounded arches form a decorative band beneath this cornice. A flat pediment rests on top of the roof. The storefront has now been altered and a metal canopy added, accoring to “Walking Tour Through Old Kaukauna.”
