APPLETON — Appleton police say they apprehended a bank robbery suspect within minutes of the crime Tuesday morning.

According to a news release, officers responded to reports of a robbery in the 100 block of South State Street around 10:40 a.m.

Witnesses described the suspect as a man who entered the bank, demanded money and fled with cash.

Thanks to quick action by bank employees who provided details about the suspect and his vehicle, officers located the vehicle shortly after.

At 10:59 a.m., officers took the man into custody without incident.

The suspect, a 63-year-old Appleton man was arrested and is awaiting formal charges.

Recovered money was returned to the bank. No injuries were reported.
