KAUKAUNA — St. Ignatius Chesterton Academy in Kaukauna will present Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Oct. 18 and 19, 2024, at St. Katharine Drexel–St. Mary’s Site Gymnasium, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna. Showtimes are:

- Saturday, October 19, 2024, 1 p.m.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a classic, engaging, and humorous story! Young Charlie Bucket can’t believe his luck when he finds the very last of Mr. Willy Wonka’s Golden Tickets inside his chocolate bar. He wins the trip of a lifetime, a magical tour around Mr. Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory. Once inside, Charlie and the other four winners—Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and Mike Teavee—witness amazing wonders: rainbow drops, lickable wallpaper, and even a chocolate waterfall. But what happens when the children, one by one, disobey Mr. Wonka? Come along on the delicious fun of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory!
St. Ignatius Chesterton Academy sophomores will perform the play. It is directed by St. Ignatius Drama Teacher Heather Neumann, who has directed, coached and taught drama for decades throughout the Fox Valley, as well as has self-authored and adapted plays. Drama Tech Support and Art Teacher Jessica Rinka will support the show’s production as well.
Drama is part of the integrated classical core curriculum at St. Ignatius Chesterton Academy. Drama class begins in sophomore year, where the students are introduced to basic acting skills and perform a short play. It continues junior and senior years, in which a full-length plays are performed. With the arts being a primary source of knowledge and ideas in today’s culture for many young people, students learn about drama as an art form and also study it in an integrated literary, philosophical, historical and theological context. Additionally, drama benefits students by bringing them together for a common goal.
