KIMBERLY — Artist Hallie Dix from Paint Parties and Art By Hallie completed her painting this month in Kimberly along the Loop the Locks network, 13.1 miles of trail between Kimberly, Kaukauna, Little Chute, and Combined Locks.

The project for Imagine Fox Cities furthers its Living Vision’s pillar of belonging, defined as feeling part of a community, embraced for who you are, and valued for what you bring.

The murals were shared in a Facebook Monday from the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region.

“In my mural, titled ‘Fish in the Sea,’ I have captured the meaning of belonging by incorporating various shapes and sizes of colorful fish,” Hallie said in the post. “To me, the word ‘belonging’ is a feeling that all people can relate to in some form. Through my inclusion of different fish, I wanted their differences and colorful personalities to symbolize what our world looks like and our experiences as human beings. Through my fish, I embodied and embraced differences, and I called attention to how diversity of the human race is the most beautiful sense of belonging we can admire.

“While my symbolism of belonging does not visually portray humans, it sends the message that our differences are vibrant and bold, and together we all belong here – on this earth – just as different species of fish do in the sea.”

Kimberly is constructing a bike/pedestrian trail that will run adjacent to this mural with construction to begin in July and conclude no later than October.
