KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna Community Players has been a summer tradition in this community for more than 40 years. These summer shows provide opportunities both on and off stage, as well as entertainment for the community. This summer’s show is The Secret Garden: Spring Version, which is an abridged version of the musical that won 3 Tony Awards in 1991 and is appropriate for all ages. (See below for ticket information.)

The Secret Garden: Spring Version tells the story of 11-year-old Mary Lennox (played by Margaret Ellis), an orphan who is sent from her home in India to live with her widowed Uncle Archibald (played by Tim Marsh) in England. Mary and her cousin, Colin Craven (played by Liam Bures), find renewed life and hope in bringing back to life the gardens of her late Aunt Lily (played by Megan Parker).

The cast of more than 40 people include many children and both veteran and novice performers who have been rehearsing for quite a few weeks. In addition to the talent onstage, the tech and creative team work diligently behind the scenes to make the show happen.

Brandy Bures is making her directorial debut with KCP after having played Cinderella in the 2022 KCP production of Cinderella. Bures says, “We have a very talented cast of veteran and new coming actors this season. Our cast and dedicated team are thrilled to bring The Secret Garden to life and transport you to early 1900’s England to join the orphaned Mary on her journey to finding a new place to belong and call home.”

Performances are June 22, 23, and 24 at 7 pm, and a matinee on June 24 at 1 pm. Get your tickets HERE (Tickets are general admission; $15 for youth and adults over age 12 and $5 for age 12 and under.)
