NEENAH — The Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts’ wrestling team claimed another conference title Saturday during the season-ending conference meet in Neenah.

They now have their sights set on repeating as state wrestling champions.

Seven Ghosts were individual champions in their weight class, and senior Greyson Clark, a Purdue University commit, was named Fox Valley Association wrestler of the year.

Head Coach Jeff Matczak earned FVA Coach of the Year.

Kaukauna High School hosts the WIAA Regional this Saturday, Feb. 11 as the post-season gets underway. Weigh-ins begin at 8:30 a.m. and wrestling begins at 10 a.m.

The WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament is Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 23-25, 2023 at the Kohl Center, UW-Madison.

The 2023 State Team Tournament is Friday and Saturday, March 3-4, 2023 at the UW Field House in Madison.

The Ghosts will be going for its third state title in a row, while Clark is aiming for his fourth straight individual wrestling title.

They have won a total of six state championships, including four straight from 2014-17.

Earlier this year, Matczak was named the 2021-22 NFHS national wrestling coach of the year.

Each year, the NFHS recognizes a coach from each state for significant achievement in their sport. Award recipients are selected based upon a variety of criteria including their coaching record, background, coaching honors and involvement in community and school organizations.
