KAUKAUNA — For years, Albert and Shirley Schmidt of Kaukauna have made it their mission to help keep those in need stay a little warming during the winter.

Their annual tradition continues again this year with the donation of warm winter hats to local police departments to hand out to those they come across in the community who may need one.

The Kaukauna, Appleton and Neenah police departments were just three of the many area agencies to post about the donations this week.

“Over the past several years, our department has benefited from the generosity of Albert and Shirley Schmidt,” read the post on the Kaukauna Police Facebook page. “Our community is fortunate to have members like the Schmidt family.”

Neenah police received several boxes that will be in their lobby to prevent ears from freezing.

“Over the past several years, our department has benefited from the generosity of Albert and Shirley Schmidt,” read the post on their Facebook page. “They have continued their tradition of donating winter hats to area police departments to hand out to those in need throughout the chilly winter months. Our community is fortunate to have members like the Schmidt family.”
