KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna’s longtime coffee shop today announced that new owners are taking over the business.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, owner Ali Mothes wrote that she wants to devote more time to her family.

“I finally realized that what truly needs doing is dedicating my whole self to my beautiful family, which calls me to passing this joyful shop into new and loving hands,” she wrote.

After 13 years in business, Mothes says she has sold to new owner Mamie Toppe of Peter’s Pumpkin Patch in Kaukauna.

“Have no fear, your beloved shop and favorite go-to items will remain unchanged,” Mothes wrote. “Mamie has a lovely vision of bringing in more local artisans and retail items that will compliment the space.”

“Our new owners are here for the long-haul and are happy to be continuing this legacy here in Kaukauna,” she said.

Here’s Mothes full post:

Dearest coffee shop family,

As I begin writing this, I realize that many of you have essentially watched me grow up. I’ve known some of you since my high school years when I first started my barista career in this funky shop pioneered by Mike, a journey which eventually brought me back to this dear place that I’ve called home for the past 13 years. Through those years it has been my honor and pleasure to in turn watch so many of you grow and flourish and become the people you are choosing to be in life.

I find myself at a crossroads where I am also choosing my next path, and it took a few years but that path is finally clear to me. I have often heard the phrase “I don’t know how you do it,” and I finally realized that what truly needs doing is dedicating my whole self to my beautiful family, which calls me to passing this joyful shop into new and loving hands.

I met Mamie during fall of last year looking for squash, as she and her partner are the team behind Peter’s Pumpkin Patch! She in turn came to me looking for work, and the next chapter is here.

It is with a full heart and utter excitement for both Mamie and I that we transition to these new life experiences. Have no fear, your beloved shop and favorite go-to items will remain unchanged. Mamie has a lovely vision of bringing in more local artisans and retail items that will compliment the space. Our new owners are here for the long-haul and are happy to be continuing this legacy here in Kaukauna.

I will always consider this place my first baby, my second home, my happy place. I am certain you will still feel all the same feels when you come here and know how much you are appreciated, how much you all have contributed to my life, and how much I will miss you!

Please share your favorite memories of Kaukauna Coffee & Tea so I can come back and receive memories and joy when I’m feeling homesick.

❤So much love,

Ali
