KAUKAUNA — Besnik “Benny” Asani, owner of the popular Kaukauna Family Restaurant, has passed away.

The restaurant shared the news last week on its Facebook page.

“It is with a heavy heart I need inform everyone that Besnik “Benny” Asani has passed away. May he rest in peace,” read the notice of Facebook.

Patrons quickly added their heartfelt comments about the loss.

“Hard to believe that Benny is gone. Been going to KFR for 17 years and he was so friendly and good to us. May he rest In peace and fly high with the angels. He will be missed greatly. Love to the family during this difficult time. We’re heartbroken too,” read one comment.

The restaurant on Crooks Avenue had been closed since mid-November after announcing they were battling COVID-19 among the “immediate staff.”

There has been no word on the future of the restaurant.
