FREEDOM — A GoFundMe.com page has been set up to raise money to help with funeral and other expenses for a popular restaurant owner who died unexpectedly last week.
Efrain “Rico” Carrasco owned Rico’s Family Restaurant, which at one time had five locations in the Fox River Valley.
He died Nov. 12, 2021 and leaves behind his wife of 19 years, Laura, and three children, Erick, Analeigh and Adalyn.
The family launched the fundraiser to help with medical bills, funeral expenses and other related expenses.
In its first day, it raised nearly $3,000 of a $20,000 goal.
Rico’s is familiar to residents of Kaukauna after he opened a restaurant in February 2019 on Wisconsin.
That restaurant closed in February 2020.
It’s unclear what the future holds for the restaurants, but a post on the Rico’s Family Restaurant Facebook page said the annual Thanksgiving dinner still will go on as planned.
The family is currently planning a celebration of life service in Appleton at Apostolic Truth Church. More information will be provided soon.
