KAUKAUNA — Kaukauna police are urging motorists to be extra careful beginning Monday as more students return to school in person.

“We are anticipating a significant increase in traffic from 7-8 a.m. and 3-4 p.m.,” read a Facebook post from the department. “Please allow some additional time for your morning and afternoon commutes and as always, keep your eyes open for young kids walking to and from school!”

The Kaukauna Area School District Board of Education on Feb. 8 approved a plan to increase the number of days that students in grades 5-12 would attend school in person.

All students who have chosen not to remain learning virtually will attend classes in person on four days, with Wednesdays being a late-start virtual learning day for all students.

The board also agreed to consider at its March 8 meeting a plan to return to five-day in person learning, depending on the latest data on COVID-19 transmission in the schools.
