LITTLE CHUTE — Funeral services have been set for Daniel Basler Jr., the founder of the popular GhostTown Pictures Facebook group, who died Wednesday in a crash in Minnesota.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at O’Connell Funeral Home, 1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute, from 3 p.m. until time of Funeral at 5 p.m. The Rev. Carl Schmitt will officiate.

Basler, originally from Kaukauna who currently lived in Webster, South Dakatota, founded GhostTown Pictures in 2018.

The popular Facebook group was created as a place to share photos, news and other activities happening in Kaukauna. The group was followed by more than 2,600 people in the area.

According to the crash report, Basler, 36, was driving a 2014 freight tractor eastbound on Minnesota Highway 40 in Louriston Township shortly before midnight when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the south ditch and rolled shortly before midnight.

Basler graduated from Kaukauna High School in 2003, and remained in Kaukauna until he moved to South Dakota in 2011, however he kept close connections to the town in which he grew up.

Basler is survived by the love of his life, Jackie Stange also of Webster, South Dakota; his mother, Pamela Basler of Kaukauna; his father, Daniel (Dianne) Basler of Kaukauna; his brother Eric and sister Angela — both also of Kaukauna; his niece Mya; and his nephews Larry and Jaydon. Surviving paternal grandparents are Leroy and Sandy Basler of Charlesburg, and he is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins as well.
