KAUKAUNA — The Friends of Grignon Mansion will unveil the contents of a time capsule buried in 1976 by the Kaukauna Bicentennial Committee, fifty years after it was sealed.
The unveiling will take place on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 1 p.m. at the Charles A. Grignon Mansion, and will coincide with the public reopening of the newly revamped mansion for guided tours.
Buried as part of the nation’s bicentennial celebration, the capsule has remained untouched for five decades and is expected to offer a window into life in Kaukauna in the mid-1970s.
“This time capsule is a direct message from the Kaukauna of 1976 to the Kaukauna of today,” said Brian Schuh, Vice President of the Friends of Grignon Mansion. “We’re excited to share it with the community the same day we open the doors to the newly revamped mansion.”
Alongside the unveiling, the mansion will debut a series of recent improvements to the museum after spring water damage delayed the start of the season.
Guided tours will run throughout the day, giving visitors a fresh look at one of the Fox Valley’s most significant historic landmarks.
