FOX VALLEY — Wildfire smoke continues to funnel into the region today and is likely to worsen over the next few days, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Air quality alerts have been issued for the region.

Health officials say to limit your time outdoors, keep windows and doors closed, and run an air purifier or air conditioner on recirculate mode.

If you must go outside, wear a properly fitted N95 or KN95 mask because standard cloth or surgical masks will not filter out hazardous fine particles.

Expect smokey and hazy conditions persisting, possibly into the weekend, causing firey red sunrises and sunsets.

Wildfires across portions of northern Minnesota and portions of the Canadian Province of Ontario have intensified and created large plumes of smoke.

Upper-level winds are expected to become more north-westerly/northerly over the next few days.

This shift is likely to further increase wildfire smoke for Thursday and possibly into Friday.

This may lead to reduced visibilities, unhealthy air and other impacts persisting into the weekend.
