GREENVILLE — A Grand Chute woman has died, and a Grand Chute man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Tuesday following a crash in Greenville.
According to a news release from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded about 10:25 p.m. June 9 to the area of West Wisconsin Avenue and Glennview Drive in Greenville for an IPhone automated crash detection alert.
When they arrived, deputies found a single vehicle involved in what they described as a significant motor vehicle crash.
Investigators say a minivan was traveling east on West Wisconsin Avenue when it lost control and entered the south ditch.
The minivan traveled east through the ditch until it entered back onto the roadway, crossed over the westbound lane of traffic and entered the north ditch.
The vehicle continued through the north ditch until it struck a tree.
The driver of the minivan, a 64-year old man from Grand Chute, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 58-year-old woman from Grand Chute, who was a passenger in the minivan, died on scene from her injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately five hours and has since reopened.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office news release.
The names have not yet been released, and the crash investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Grand Chute Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Greenville Fire and First Responders, Airport Fire, Gold Cross Ambulance, Thedastar Medical Helicopter, and the Outagamie County Highway Department.
