GREEN BAY — Green Bay fire crews are currently battling a blaze at Green Bay Converting. The fire is still active as of 11 a.m. and nearby residents are urged to shelter in place.

According to a news release, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department was dispatched about 7:45 a.m. Monday to a fire alarm at 2200 Larsen Road (Green Bay Converting). Engine 4 was the first crew to arrive on the scene and reported heavy black smoke while en route. Battalion 3 confirmed that fire was coming from the roof of one of the buildings upon arrival.

This incident has been upgraded to a Box Alarm at the second level to request additional resources.

Weather conditions are impacting the response, with high winds and equipment freezing on site. Multiple emergency crews from Brown County are assisting.

The fire is still active and generating a significant amount of smoke as of 11 a.m.

Residents near the area are advised to shelter in place, as soot is being blown throughout the vicinity. If you see smoke in this area, please do not call 9-1-1 to report it.

City of Green Bay Public Works, the nearby Villages, and private plow drivers assisted in helping our crews gain access to respond effectively to this incident.
