MOSINEE — Paper maker Ahlstrom announced Wednesday that it plans to close and idle part of its facility in Mosinee, however Thilmany Mill in Kaukauna is unaffected.

The company announced in a news release that it is closing its Mosinee pulp mill and two older paper machines this year, while upgrading the two remaining paper machines with advanced technologies and automation.

A letter obtained by WAOW-TV in Wausau sent to suppliers also states Ahlstrom’s Thilmany mill in Kaukauna will “continue its full scope of operations.”

The company plans to idle the M3 paper machine and pulp mill on June 30, with the M2 paper machine being idled on Sept. 30.

According to WAOW, the operational changes will impact approximately 200 employees.
