JANESVILLE — A powerful storm that moved through southern Wisconsin overnight damaged businesses, apartments and uprooted trees, with much of the damage centered along Milton Avenue on the east side of Janesville.
At Boucher Hyundai of Janesville, staff were sweeping the parking lot after winds blew in the glass of all the windows on their showroom.

Inside, chairs were overturned, glass was piled on desks and new cars were damaged.
Around the corner, the roof of an apartment building on Randolph Road was blown off, strewing insulation and shingles into the neighborhoods behind it.
A neighbor said residents of at least one apartment were relocated because of the damage.

Behind the apartments, multiple trees were down in Milton Lawns Memorial Park cemetery. A large piece of siding blew off the Subway next door.
Trees were down in neighborhoods all the way from the Woodman’s area to the Rock County Fairgrounds.
Earlier, street crews had removed a large tree from Milton Avenue to allow traffic to get through.

Very gusty winds are expected today, with Wind Advisories and a High Wind Warning in effect, according to the National Weather Service.
The strongest winds will occur this morning and early afternoon over southeastern Wisconsin, where gusts to 60 m.p.h. will be possible.
These winds will have the potential to cause tree, powerline, and minor structural damage.
Since many locations saw tree and powerline damage last night, be especially alert for damaged limbs or other debris that may blow around today.
