WALWORTH COUNTY — Authorities in Walworth County say they believe the male who was transported by Flight for Life following a home explosion Tuesday was the only person in the residence at the time.

Fire and search/rescue did an extensive search and no one else was located.

The Elkhorn Area Fire Department is investigating with the assistance of the State Fire Marshal and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.

The Walworth County Communications Center began receiving numerous calls about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday about a fire and reports of an explosion at a home, according to a news release.

The residence is located on Kulow Road in the Town of Lafayette just north of Elkhorn.

Walworth County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Elkhorn Fire Department were dispatched.

When they arrived, sheriff’s deputies reported a small fire and confirmed an explosion had occurred at the residence.

Deputies immediately began to search for survivors and secured the area until the arrival of fire and rescue personnel.
