KAUKAUNA — Major improvements are coming next year to the playground Kaukauna’s La Follette Park.

The city hinted about the project in a social media post.

“Coming June 2024…upgrades to La Follette Park, located at 220 Park Street. Stay tuned for more details!” read the post.

The renderings, from Lee Recreation show a colorful layout that includes slides, swings and multiple climbing towers.

The surfacing will be rubberized, which allow all mobility devices access to the equipment. There will be a universal swing and lower transfer platforms for user to ease into each play structure.

La Follette Park is one of 35 city-owned parks and open spaces, which have been classified as one of three types of parks (regional, local, or neighborhood), or one of two types of open spaces (urban or natural).

There also are a number of privately owned and operated open spaces, as well as school-owned parks that contribute an additional 270 acres of parks and open spaces.

These 35 open spaces make up 458 acres of dedicated park and open space in the city limits and feature a wide range of setting, amenities and natural environments.

The city of Kaukauna keeps a list of parks and amenities on its website HERE.
