KAUKAUNA — Less than 24 hours after receiving an offer from the Iowa State football program, Kaukauna safety Carson Van Dinter verbally committed on Twitter to the school.
Van Dinter, entering his senior year at Kaukauna Area High School, was an important part of the Ghosts defense last fall on a team that advanced to the state semifinal game.
Most recently, Van Dinter was part of Kaukauna’s state champion 4×100 meter relay team, along with Logan Bartolac, Noah Hofmann and Danny VanDyke.
“He’s just that kind of natural athlete,” head coach Matt Binsfeld told the Cyclone Fanatic website. “Very good at basketball and probably the best part about him, he’s a tremendous competitor. It doesn’t matter what (sport) he’s playing. He gets it after it. He’s very intense and a hard-working kid as well.”
Coaches from Iowa State originally had paid a visit to Kaukauna to recruit another player when Binsfeld encouraged them to talk to Van Dinter.
“The offensive line coach met him, he went down to camp and the rest is history,” Binsfeld told the website.
