KAUKAUNA — With the season winding down to what likely will be the end of the Ghosts gymnastics program, supporters have launched a petition to save the sport at Kaukauna High School.
According to a Change.org petition from the Kaukauna Gymnastics Booster Club, the program faces termination by the Kaukauna School District despite efforts by students, parents and supporters to keep the legacy alive,
“Over time, participation has remained consistently low and has continued to decline. Projected participation indicates that this trend will continue,” Superintendent Mike Slowinski said in a statement.
“Concluding the program after this season allows the district to minimize the impact on current and future students while responsibly planning for the years ahead,” he said.

Boosters are urging the Kaukauna School District to consider other viable solutions to preserve this program, such as community fundraisers, seeking sponsorships, adjusting the budget or establishing partnerships with local businesses/schools.
According to the group, the Kaukauna gymnastics team has been more than just a sport since 1972; it has been a cornerstone of the community, shaping the lives of countless young athletes.
The final meet of the season is Friday, Feb 27, 2026 at Antigo.
Sectionals are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26 – Saturday Feb. 28, 2026, with the state meet March 6-7, 2026 in Wisconsin Rapids.
