KAIKAUNA — Following a multi-phase naming process including community input and listening sessions, the Kaukauna Area School District Board of Education has chosen “Kaukauna Middle School” as the name of the district’s new middle school.

Other names under consideration included:
Electric City Middle School
Sheldon Niquette Middle School
River View Middle School

“As a Board, we felt the name Kaukauna Middle School best represents our community as a whole,” said Board President Chris Bouressa. “It brings together students from across the District under one shared name, helps build pride in Kaukauna, and reflects a strong sense of unity. We also believe it’s a name that will stand the test of time for generations of students to come.”

According to a news release, the naming process was intentionally designed to include multiple opportunities for community engagement. Phase 1 invited students, staff, families, and community members to submit name suggestions for the new school. After Phase 1 concluded, the Board of Education reviewed all submissions and narrowed the list to four potential names for further consideration.

Phase 2 included two public listening sessions, providing opportunities for community members to share feedback and perspectives on the finalist names directly with the Board of Education. Board members carefully considered the feedback shared during these sessions before voting on the final name at the January 12, 2026 Board of Education meeting.

Construction on the new middle school is expected to begin this spring, following the completion of the design phase. The project remains on track and aligned with budget expectations, with the new school scheduled to open for students at the start of the 2028–2029 school year.

The District thanked all who participated in the naming process by submitting suggestions, attending listening sessions, and sharing feedback.
