GREENVILLE — A Hortonville man was arrested Tuesday following a hit-and-run crash that led to a foot chase near a Greenville elementary school.

According to a news release, Outagamie County deputies were sent to a report of a hit-and-run crash about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Wisconsin Highway 76 and Wisconsin Highway 15 in the village of Greenville just northwest of Grand Chute.

One of the involved vehicles fled northbound on Highway 76 and later turned onto County Highway JJ according to the sheriff’s office.

The vehicle was seen pulling into an area around North Greenville Elementary School.  The driver of the vehicle then parked near the school and fled on foot running around the rear of the school into a wooded area.

As a precaution, the school was notified and went into a lockdown to ensure the safety of the students and staff.

Officers from multiple agencies responded to the area and used a drone and K-9s to track the suspect.

At 11:39 a.m. the suspect, a 27-year-old Hortonville man, was taken into custody close to a nearby residence.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Grand Chute Police Department, Greenville Fire and EMS.
