The Kimberly girls basketball team avenged its only loss of the season with an overtime win Saturday over Pewaukee.

Papermakers sophomore Ava Van Vonderen sent the game to overtime with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer, then knocked down the go-ahead free throws to seal the win.

Appleton East advanced to next week’s state tournament by taking down Eau Claire Memorial, 68-65.

In Division 3, Xavier topped previously undefeated Wittenberg-Birnamwood, 63-45, to secure a second straight trip to state for the Hawks.

In Division 4, Neenah’s St. Mary Catholic defeated Manitowoc Lutheran, 65-54, to advance to state for the first time since 2009.
