TOWN OF KAUKAUNA — A suspect wanted in connection with an attempted burglary in a town of Kaukana home was eventually found in a field after being spotted using a drone.

According to a news release, the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call about 5:15 p.m. Thursday of a burglary to an occupied home in the town of Kaukauna.  

Multiple officers from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol and Kaukauna Police Department responded to the area. 

The subject fled from the home on foot prior to officers arrival.

A coordinated search was conducted by several officers and utilized drone technology.

Ultimately officers located the subject in a field a significant distance from the home. 

Sheriff’s Office drone operators were able to locate the subject using a drone and directed officers to his location. 

He was taken into custody and provided emergency medical aid for a suspected drug overdose. 

It is believed the suspect had fled from attempted traffic stops on several occasions just prior to this incident and was operating a stolen vehicle. 

The investigation into this is ongoing and involves multiple agencies. 

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, City of Kaukauna Police Department, Town of Kaukauna First Responders,  Vandenbroek Fire Department, Freedom Fire Department and Gold Cross
