APPLETON — A 29-year-old Appleton man has life-threatening injuries after the vehicle he was driving crashed and rolled early Saturday in rural Outagamie County.

According to a news release, the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was called out about 1:30 a.m. Saturday to the area of Wisconsin Highway 76 and Immel Road in the Town of Ellington for an automated crash detection notification.

The area is about 5 miles east of Hortonville.

When they arrived, Ellington First Responders quickly located a vehicle involved in a crash.

Investigators say a vehicle driven by a 29-year-old Appleton man was traveling northbound on Highway 76 when it went off a curve near Immel Road and struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times.

The driver of the vehicle was trapped inside the vehicle and needed to be extricated.

He later was transported to a local hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance with life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours and has since been reopened.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Town of Ellington First Responders, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
